You'll be a step ahead by defining your track record. Every company is searching for candidates that can provide long-term value.

Your Competition Level

Develop direct company relationships more so than third-party relations. Direct relationships with employers are more cost-effective. Employers have more influence in the hiring process. In contrast forming relationships with recruiters may be more time-consuming and less effective because of the amount of candidates working with individual recruiters.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), IT jobs and accounting jobs will grow by 32% and 16% respectively through 2018. However, this does not mean that jobs in these industries are easy to get. Therefore, here are some tips to give you an edge over other job seekers.

Acquire Skills in a Hot Niche

With specialization at the work place becoming the norm, becoming an expert in a certain field is surely the way to go. If you love crunching numbers, you can opt to specialize in portfolio compliance. Figures released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that a top specialist in this niche earns as much as $139,350 every year in salary and perks. The average salary currently stands at $85,240, while the lowest earners take home $44,080. Another hot niche in accounting is expertise in Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. On the IT space, hot careers include cloud computing, big data analytics, and data security.

Internship

If you cannot find a job straightaway, consider taking up an internship. This will help you sharpen your skills as you seek out potential employees. A survey carried out by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) found that 70% of interns get job offers. In comparison, 80% of students who skip internship often do not find a job immediately after graduating.

Employers who participated in the survey said the experience gained during internship plays a big role when recruiting new staff members. Therefore, you should take the initiative to find internship openings.

Do Not Solely Depend on Recruiters

Sending out your resume to recruiting firms does not mean that you can rest on your laurels. Think about this, a survey carried out by Right Management found that 40% of jobseekers find work through networking. This shows that you need to do more than spend time on job boards. Reach out to friends and industry professionals who can help you find work.

Even if you are a graduate or a professional with years of experience under your belt, differentiating yourself from other jobseekers is important. Look for careers that pay top dollar in your industry and fine tune your skills accordingly. Also, do not shy from taking unpaid internship. This will help you improve your chances of finding work. In addition, make networking a top priority.

Change means, among other things, new growth and new job opportunities. There are plenty of great jobs out there, and we'll be the ones to help you find them.

After doing some homework, we've put together the following criteria (concerning jobs, industries, and training) to help you decide what career will be best for you not just tomorrow, but for the next decade.

Top Jobs

Want to know which jobs are growing so fast you practically need to pull out your fire extinguisher to cool them off? Take a look at the following list of top 30 jobs put together by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS):

So how does the BLS figure out which jobs will be growing the fastest not just next year, but all the way through 2018? In the November 2017 issue of the Monthly Labor Review where the study results were originally published, author Kristina Bartsch explains they look at a number of factors, including which sectors of the economy will grow (such as the service-providing industries), which sectors will shrink (such as goods-producing sectors), and what kind of vacancies will be created as the workforce ages, retires or changes careers. Best of all? Bartsch says that, of the 30 jobs listed above, many have fewer educational or training requirements. (Being a personal trainer, for example, does require certification, but not necessarily a bachelor's in kinesiology.) This means you don't have to get take out more student loans and get another degree to work in one the future's top jobs.

Top Fields

Ok, so now we know which jobs are growing the fastest. But if you're not into one of the 30 jobs listed above, there's still hope. You can look at the industries that are booming and watch for your dream job to pop up in that sector. For example, if you're a communications director and you know that health care is an industry that's leading the pack, you can look for communications positions at hospitals, medical research facilities, health care groups-anything related to the healthcare industry.

Some of the tried-and-true favorites include (you guessed it) health care, technology, and education. These industries always seem to be growing, to the point that some call them recession-proof. But with the Department of Labor's (DOL) January 6 announcement regarding $100 million in Energy Training Partnership Grants, you can factor green jobs in that equation too. (By the way, that $100 million is in addition to $55 million given in November 2017, all as part of the Recovery Act. The Department of Labor expects to release funding for two remaining green grant award categories over the beginning of 2018.)

The DOL also listed the following among the fastest-growing industries through 2018:

• Management, scientific, and technical consulting services
• Individual and family services
• Home health care services
• Specialized design services
• Personal care services
• Outpatient, laboratory, and other ambulatory care services
• Facilities support services
• Software publishers
• Independent artists, writers and performers
• Local government passenger transit (CTA, anyone?)
• Scientific research and development services
• Waste management and remediation
• Community and vocational rehabilitation services

Top Trends in Training

If you're in school, going back to school, or thinking about going back to school, now's a great time to fine-tune your training. According to Dianna Middleton's Wall Street Journal article "Landing a Job of the Future takes a Two-Track Mind," companies will soon be looking for candidates with not just a vertical skill set, but a horizontal one. Traditional degrees, like computer engineering, will need to be paired with study or experience in emerging fields, such as online marketing or social media. In other words, those top-dog systems analysts may also need to know how manage their company's Twitter accounts, and veterinary technicians may need to be crossed trained in data entry and system management. So if you're pursuing a degree, consider taking a few classes in a new and emerging field that will help boost your resume and your skill set.

The point is that there are lots of opportunities out there, and not just to make a few bucks, but to find a career that you love and that will fit your lifestyle.

Great Tips for Finding the Best IT and Accounting Jobs
With unemployment in the US hovering near the 8 percent mark, finding a job is not easy. However, some sectors such as IT and accounting are bucking the trend. Figures published by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics show that unemployment in the IT sector stands at 3.8%. In addition, IT jobs will grow by 32% through 2018. These numbers are better than the national average. On the other hand, accounting jobs will grow by 16% through 2020. If you would like to build a rewarding career in either of these fields, apply the following tips.

Be Proactive

After graduating from college or University, do not rest on your laurels and wait for employers to come calling because this is not likely to happen. Instead, take a proactive step and seek out companies that you would like to work for and admire. For starters, find out the kind of people your number one employer prefers to hire. If you have impressive IT skills, create a short video sketch of your work, it should highlight all your strong points, and send it to potential employers.

Network

In an age when technology is driving almost every aspect of human life, networking can help you meet the right people. Do not wait until you have graduated or about to change jobs to start seeking out professionals in your career of choice. Instead, start networking at least one year before you graduate or submit a resignation letter. This will give you enough time to meet industry players and showcase your skills. Moreover, you will have ample time to find out what skills are in demand and fine-tune your expertise accordingly.

Prepare a Targeted Resume

To stay ahead of the competition, take time to prepare a targeted resume. Remember employers are not in the business of trying to find out what you can or cannot do. Your duty is to prepare a resume that paints you as a specialist in a certain field. For this to work, you have to be as specific as possible. One way to go about writing a targeted resume is to list your accomplishments and not responsibilities. Additionally, if you change jobs often, you should probably not list all the jobs that you have held in the past.

Whether you are looking for accounting jobs or IT jobs, some bit of planning is necessary. Start by putting together a targeted resume. Then, network with other professionals and seek out companies that appeal to you and would be able to utilize your skill sets fully.
Some Tips On Finding Good Jobs
There are over 3 million new jobs expected to open up before the year 2018, and will include people who enjoy working in the health care industry, electronics and supporting staff. Anyone who is able to work, and want to be employed, should have no problem in finding one that suits their interests. Let's take a look at a couple of things to do which may help in finding the right one.

Turning in an application is not the most important thing in getting hired. It is all about presenting yourself so that you stand out from the crowd. A resume can organize your previous experience, and be worded in such a way that it makes you sound more qualified than any other applicants. It is a good idea to keep your resume updated at all times, just in case a good opportunity arises.

People who are just getting out of school, and have no work experience, can still create a resume that works for them. It should include all of the clubs, associations and other involvements you've had, such as local volunteer work, even church affiliations. Any extracurricular studies you worked on in school can show that you go the extra mile, and references from respected people can also help.

The more places you apply for employment, the better your chances that one of them will turn out to be the perfect match for what you want out of life. In many cases, a person's work experience can end up covering a broad base of different tasks. Carefully read all of the job requirements, and decide if your resume can be slightly rewritten to focus more on those details that are stated in the employment posting.

Many people had to get a job straight out of high school, and never got a chance to pursue the field of study in which they had more interest. It is never too late to enroll in a degree program that offers some type of certification. Being certified in a particular field of endeavor can often open doors that were otherwise closed. Most of these courses can be taken online, and you can add your certification information to your resume.

New opportunities are developing every day, and more jobs will be open for those who are prepared. Take the time to create and maintain your resume, and if you are interested in changing careers, this could be a great opportunity to further your education. As more of the population reaches retirement age, there will be more openings in the medical industry and related electronics and support staff.
